The Great Depression 1920-1940
The Great Depression affected minorities in America, especially Black Americans, more harshly. There were limited to no work programs specifically for black men and women as the majority of programs were aimed at white men and women. They were Last Hired, First Fired. The high unemployment rate led to the second great migration as Black Americans left the south into the north for more job opportunities. As America started becoming more active in WW11, Black Americans volunteered in the US army in both segregated and desegregated troops.
I chose this image as I believe it paints a better picture of what some of the conditions where like during The Great Depression during WW11.
